So, there's something leaking behind our walls. It's gross, and it got to the point where there was mold growing under the paint, making the paint bubble and blister and peel off. Disgusting. After getting my dad's company's driver (who speaks Arabic) to call the landlord who pretends not to speak English, I finally had two Arab guys show up at my door one morning about the problem. They came in, patted the walls for fifteen minutes, and left. And didn't come back. So, after more pestering of the landlord, they finally came back... and scraped all the mold off! A start!! I was so excited... Sure, the bottom of the walls in the hallway were now gray and paintless, but there was no mold! They guys left, saying they would some back with special paint to put over the mold "tomorrow or after tomorrow" And then...? You guessed it... it took more calling and asking to get them to come back and paint the walls. While doing this, they also fixed a crack in the living room (from a mild earthquake awhile back, I think) and took my almost finished puzzle and put it back in the box! Puzzle-wreckers!! I was so upset about this, actually, still am... in case you can't tell...
And the mold came back. Who would've guessed, when something is leaking behind the walls, scraping it off and painting over it, does not fix the problem! Shocker! We tried explaining it to them, but instead they came back, and... did the exact same thing again! And the mold came back the next day! You know what they say, if at first you don't suceed, try try again. So today they scraped and painted yet again! And again. I said this was the last time, and I truly hope the problem just goes away, because this is getting so annoying. And wet paint doesn't smell that great.
SOME RANDOMNESS OF TODAY: -grapefruits are my new favourite food... and soymilk. Not together of course, bleck! But I've stopped drinking milk and can actually stomach plain soymilk now (it's actually really good hot) -the only good thing about having your walls painted everyday is the fact that they sweep the hallway when they finish (one less chore for me lol)

This was my plan for today: 9:30- wake up, hang up wet laundry, eat breakfast, etc... 10:00- start english 11:00- finished english by now, take a 15 minute break 11:15- do the dishes because they're really gross 12:30- empty and refill litter box, take out all the garbage 12:45- take your stuff from rooms that aren't your bedroom and put them in your bedroom and also clean your room (sweep!) 1:15 or so- eat some protein!! Then start to read the book for your next english unit 2:00- either start history, or finish your last couple math questions...
Of course, that didn't end up happening... instead it went more like this: 9:30- wake up, hang up wet laundry, eat breakfast, etc... 10:00- start english 11:30- still working on english, 500 word essay at 730 words and there's no concluding paragraph yet even 11:45- put pizza in oven to re-heat, read about Kuwait's leadership problems in the paper 12:00- read the rest of the paper, eat the pizza 12:15- do random online stuff (avoid schoolwork) 12:20- gasp at Canadian election results 12:35- decide to write a blog entry 12:37- look for the list of today's plan to reference it in the blog 12:40- find the plan beside the laundry 12:43- do some taking care of my little sister's Tamagotchi 12:45- start writing in this blog
So, you can see why homeschooling probably isn't the best thing for me, but I'm working on it... At least I had a plan today, it's just been delayed... by two hours, erg.
In other news, I have a mullet. Just in case anyone out there is thinking like I did, "gosh, getting a mowhawk would be a really neat thing to do." Let me warn you about how they grow out... into MULLETS! It's quite disturbing, and I'm not sure if I can find a hairdresser here that speaks english, I might just end up cutting the back myself. But ,on the bright side, I can wear it up in little pigtails or a ponytail now and that looks decent. However, without it up somehow, I am MULLETGIRL!! Good thing I don't take myself too seriously.
Anyways, I think I've stalled long enough... all I have to do is finish this lame essay and write a 300 word letter and then I'll be finished my first unit of english, so I should get to that.

Greetings from the Middle East!
So, here's my first entry and I really have nothing to say. Not a good beginning, but I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things. I had another blog, and it's still out there, but with everything in my life so different from how it was when I stopped writing in that one, I decided to start fresh.
I hope that this blog'll be interesting, although I do tend to complain lots, so if it gets annoying, tell me, ok?
As well, I hope I'll be able to dispel some views on the Middle East. I hate how people lump the entire area together and label it. I don't have to wear an abaya or headscarf. My friends are not terrorists, and although one of them jokes about it, none of them are related to Osama bin Laden. I'm safer here than most other places in the world.
If you genuinely have questions about living here, I'd love to answer them.. but ask me something stupid and you'll get a matching reply.
And my life here these days? Today I slept, avoided schoolwork and instead worked on a puzzle I just bought. That's probably why I have nothing to write about, because I'm sure an entry of "The Puzzle Adventure!" wouldn't encourage repeat readers. I promise once I finish my puzzle (it's addictive) I'll come up with something better for here.
